Dallas ISD and other districts use an alert system app in case of an active shooter

Several school districts are using an alarm system called ‘Raptor Alert System’ in case of an active shooter on campus.

In Winder, Georgia, two dozen teachers pressed their panic alert buttons when they heard gunfire at the school. That’s when authorities came running.

The Dallas ISD is using similar technology. The Raptor Alert System is an app that can be downloaded on your phone. Dallas ISD Police Chief Albert Martinez says all it takes is a double tap on the app and all the appropriate agencies are alerted.

He says not only is this cost-effective, it’s also very efficient and he expects the technology only to improve with time.
