Florida International Air Show wins national signature event recognition

PUNTA GORDA — Southeast Tourism Society named the Florida International Air Show one of the Signature Events of the Southeast for 2024.

Signature Events of the Southeast, formerly known as “Top 20 Festival and Event Awards,” was launched in 2023 during the 40th anniversary celebration of Southeast Tourism Society.

STS recognizes events and festivals in the region since 1985.

This year’s 41st Florida International Air Show is Nov. 2-3 on the grounds of the Punta Gorda Airport and features The Chuters Jump Team and the Patty Wagstaff Warbird Thunder.

The event has brought in an estimated $3.6 million in direct spending and $5.3 million in total economic impact, according to Air Show President Denise Dull.

At the show, participants can see aircraft displays, interactive exhibits and engage with pilots and crew members.

“If you’ve not been to an air show before, it’s like taking Nascar, pizza, baseball, hot dogs, fireworks, football and Lynyrd Skynyrd and rolling it all into one giant rodeo,” Dull said. “There’s something for everyone in the family.”
