East Bay freeway shooting suspect arrested

( KRON ) — An alleged gunman behind a pair of Bay Area freeway shootings last month has been arrested, the California Highway Patrol announced Tuesday. Officers with the CHP’s Dublin Area office were dispatched on Aug. 3 at around 1:30 p.m. on a call regarding a freeway shooting on southbound Interstate 680 near Stoneridge Drive.

The victim, police said, had been shot in the shoulder while driving in heavy traffic. A second freeway shooting was reported about 45 minutes later on the Industrial Parkway onramp to Interstate 880 northbound.

CHP Hayward officers responded to the second call and interviewed the victim, who was uninjured, according to officials.
