The human-caused Point Fire burned about 300 acres on Tuesday evening north of metro Phoenix, according to the Tonto National Forest.
At about 5:40 p.m., park officials reported the wildfire near West Point Mountain, about 5 miles northeast of New River, a community 40 minutes north of Phoenix.
One fire engine and a ground crew of firefighters were battling the fire Tuesday night, located on rocky and difficult terrain, according to a post by Tonto National Forest officials on X.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
