This year marks the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Across the nation, people come together to remember the events of 9/11 by holding memorial events and volunteer services.
Cities and organizations across metro Phoenix are hosting events to pay tribute to those who lost their lives. Here are some of those events.
Gilbert
Gilbert will host their annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony on Sept. 11. The public can join Gilbert firefighters and police officers in remembering the lives lost and paying tribute to first responders.
The ceremony will be followed by a Tribute in Light where two beams of light will be projected into the sky to symbolize the World Trade Center’s twin towers.
- Time: The ceremony will be at 6 p.m. The light ceremony will be from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Phoenix
The Travis Manion Foundation will host the Phoenix 9/11 Heroes Run, uniting the community to honor service members and heroes.
