Strong to Severe Thunderstorms Possible Across South Florida

Tropical Moisture Setting Off Heavy Showers & Storms in West Palm Beach & Ft. Lauderdale Areas

Good afternoon everyone. As our tropical situation brews in the western Gulf of Mexico, some of the outflow boundary is reaching all the way into south Florida and Cuba.

For this reason, we are watching very heavy showers and thunderstorms popping up across the region, including the Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm, Homestead, Lake Okeechobee, and I75 ” Alligator Alley ” areas. While we don’t have any severe thunderstorm watches at this time, we are seeing locally strong to severe storms.

Some of these storms have had a history of strong winds, hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain capable of flooding in poor drainage areas. Expect these storms to continue into the evening, then re-fire again tomorrow in the same areas.

Shower & thunderstorm action could be more widespread tomorrow as Tropical Storm/Hurricane Francine nears the Louisiana coast, and that main outflow energy comes closer.
