LGBTQ+ bar Slammies on High closes after a year and a half in business

Slammies on High, an LGBTQ+ bar and pizza restaurant near Ohio State University’s campus, will remain closed permanently and sold to make way for a new bar, as announced on Instagram Tuesday .

The bar, located at 1607 N. High St., opened its doors in March of 2023 as an off shoot of LGBTQ+ bar Slammers in Downtown. It focused on dishing out Columbus-style pizza, subs and boozy cocktails like its “Slammierita,” a concoction of tequila, triple sec, strawberry, lime and sour.

The restaurant closed its doors earlier in the summer and will remain closed as it is sold to new owners, who plan to open a new spot, Jac & Do’s, according to the Instagram story.

“We hope to continue serving our customers at Slammers, we love you all and hope you have a fantastic school year,” the Instagram story read.

Slammies’ Downtown counterpart, Slammers, is Ohio’s oldest gay bar and one of 33 lesbian bars left in the United States, according to The Lesbian Bar Project .
