One person shot, one person in custody in northwest Marion County shooting

One person was shot, and law enforcement officials said they have someone in custody in an incident that occurred in northwest Marion County on Tuesday.

Marion County Sheriff’s deputies said shortly before 5 p.m., they were called to the 4900 block of Northwest 56th Terrace to investigate a shooting. When deputies arrived, they found a man who had a gunshot wound.

Deputies quickly provided medical care to the victim until other first responders arrived. Once medical officials got on the scene, the wounded man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

During their investigation, deputies took one person in custody.

As of 9:25 p.m., sheriff’s officials would not say anything about the victim, such as an age, where he was shot, a motive or if he lived in the community. Also, officials did not release any information about the suspect.

They said the investigation is ongoing.
