Miami finally hit a home run in the portal
Mark’s take: FACT
Mario Cristobal has never been bashful in the portal, but his success rate has been rather disappointing. However, his additions during the 2023/2024 have changed that pattern. Quarterback Cam Ward’s arrival received the most attention, and has not disappointed, but several other players have shined through two games. Damien Martinez is the leading running back (156 yards, 1 TD), Sam Brown (7 rec, 54 yards) has contributed to an already impressive wide receiver group and Mishael Powel l has helped solidify the secondary. Aside from Ward, the most important addition so far has been DE Tyler Baron , who has been dominant with eight tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. Optimism is back in Coral Gables.
