Two Cumberland County institutions are on an annual list of the best employers in North Carolina.
Cumberland County Schools and Cape Fear Valley Health System landed on Forbes Best Employers By State, released Aug. 20.
Cumberland County Schools, which ranked 47th out of 100, was one of just two school systems — Buncombe County Schools in Asheville was the other — to make the list. The local public school system employs more than 6,400 people.
“In Cumberland County Schools, we are committed to building strong talent pathways through professional development, career advancement opportunities, and ensuring our premier professionals are set up for success,” Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly Jr. said in a news release. “Being recognized once again as an outstanding workplace is truly an honor, and it reflects our dedication to investing in our people.”
Cape Fear Valley Health System, which is based in Fayetteville but has facilities in surrounding counties, ranked 94th. About 7,500 work for the health system.
