Warrant provides more details in shooting at after-hours club

Six people, including a 17-year-old found dead of a gunshot wound, could be seen on security video firing guns in a crowded after-hours club parking lot, according to court documents.

At present, five people are booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center for their roles in the Aug. 25 shooting in which Dalequavion York was killed .

Byron Hawkins Jr., 22, Dazaun Jones 18, Christen Nelson, 23, Lavarious Scott, 19, and Joshua Price, 27, are all facing third-degree felony counts of deadly conduct by discharging a firearm. The offense is a third-degree felony that carries a punishment of two to 10 years in prison.

Their charges stem from a Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit investigation into a shooting at the Absolute Office Park in the 9200 block of U.S. 87.

The investigation began after Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office deputies responding to a shots fired call found York dead from a gunshot wound to the chest, the documents state.

Five other people, including Nelson, were injured. Three were taken by ambulance to University Medical Center and two were taken to the hospital by private vehicle.
