Family of San Carlos Park shop employee killed by tire explosion sues employer

Nearly a month after a worker died when a tire exploded at a San Carlos Park shop, his parents are suing his employer and the coworker, alleging negligence

Richard William Vallini, 20, of Fort Myers, died Aug. 5 when the tire exploded at A Expert Tire & Service, 8794 Alico Rd., in Fort Myers.

Richard William Vallini’s parents, Richard John Vallini and Roberta Vallini, seek more than $50,000 in damages and a jury trial. The complaint lists A Expert Tire & Service, owner Scott Kitzinger and his son, Jason Kitzinger, an employee at the tire shop, as the defendants.

An incident report from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office indicates sheriff’s deputies responded to A Expert Tire & Service shortly after 12:30 p.m. Aug. 5, where they found Richard William Vallini suffering from severe head injuries. Authorities noted he lay on his back.

Authorities spoke with an employee, identified as Jason Kitzinger, who told them that around 12:30 p.m. Richard William Vallini and another coworker were filling large tires with air.
