MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) – University of South Alabama researchers are helping to pave the way for artificial mitochondria creation. Dr. Mikhail Alexeyev, a professor at the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine, and his team received a nearly $1 million grant to study a phenomenon observed in mitochondrial DNA.
