Kansas veterans return from 100th Kansas Honor Flight

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW0 – One hundred Kansas veterans celebrated a historic trip and returned to Wichita on the 100th Kansas Honor Flight after visiting memorials in Washington, D.C.

Organizers say the honor flights are about service and gratitude, and honoring the legacies of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Several veterans called it a powerful journey, paying tribute to fallen heroes.

For the last decade, the Kansas Honor Flight has been honoring veterans by taking them to the World War II, Korean and Vietnam war memorials. Many of these veterans shared that this is the first time they have seen the tributes in Washington, D.C. It is a program that has taken more than three thousand veterans there for free.

“Everywhere we went, we were made to be appreciated for what we have done for our country,” said Paul Feleciano, a veteran.

“I’ve been to the National Mall before, but never with a group of veterans like this. And all these guys, we come from every walk of life, just everything you could imagine. But you’ve got an instant connection with the guy sitting next to you,” said David Blake, a veteran.
