Adoptable Ohio dog on the road to recovery is ready for a new home

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — Sasha, a dog at the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center, is looking for a home that will let her enjoy her recovered mobility.

The German Shepherd is a dog with a unique story, as Foster Coordinator Ivy Dorow told NBC4 she first came to the shelter after being hit by a car. She came in with a pelvic fracture, but thanks to care from a medical foster, is completely healed. She’s back to regular activities and loves playing with other dogs.

“When she gets together with another dog, she’s very puppy-like, very playful, wants to run around, wrestle a little bit,” Dorow said. “So she would probably really enjoy having another compatible dog that wants to play kind of rowdy with her.”

Sasha behaves well in home environments, as Dorow noted she is both housebroken and crate-trained. However, she can be a little shy when she first meets new people.

“She benefits from slow intros with people,” Dorow said. “We’ll just have a new person toss her some treats, and get her adjusted and get her used to the person for about 10 minutes or so. Once she knows somebody, she’ll love you forever.”
