Delco Beads to host special event in the community

Two young entrepreneurs from Delaware County started a charitable business following the disappearance of their mother in 2014. Ava Marie and Sophia DeGuio are the force behind Delco Beads.

“We started Delco Beads four years ago in August. We did it in honor of our mother who disappeared 10 years ago. We were giving bracelets to women in Kensington to lift their spirits,” said Ava.

A percentage of every bracelet sold is donated to various charities within the local community like Grands Stepping Up and The Domestic Abuse Project.

“It’s important to us because we’ve always loved to give back and it’s a way that we can contribute to our community and give back to those,” said Ava.

The sisters wanted to do something special to honor their mother Amanda DeGuio, who was reported missing in August 2014 from Upper Darby/ Drexel Hill.

“We’re going to host this event to spread awareness and instead of giving the people wristbands, we’re going to give them purple bracelets because that was her favorite color,” said Sophia.
