Virginia man stabbed at Route 35 motel, police said

WALL TOWNSHIP — An Eatontown man was arrested in connection with a stabbing following a dispute that took place early Sunday morning at a local motel, Wall Township Police Department (WTPD) said in a press release.

On Sunday, Sept. 8, at approximately 3:30 a.m., patrols from WTPD responded to the Economy Inn Motel, located at 2035 Route 35, for a report of a male stabbed multiple times.

According to the press release, once on scene, police found a 50-year-old man from Hampton, Virginia, with multiple stab wounds to his midsection and his back. He was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by the Wall Township Emergency Medical Services. Police Chief Sean O’Halloran told The Coast Star on Monday that the victim was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital.

It was reported that the suspect had fled the scene immediately following the stabbing.

Through an investigation by the Wall Township Police Department, the suspect was identified as Geraldo Voglino, 37, of Eatontown. It was found that Voglino and the victim engaged in a dispute over a cell phone, leading to Voglino stabbing the victim numerous times with a knife.
