Klothes Kloset dresses the community for free

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Inflation can stretch a budget thin and force people to make tough decisions.

“A lot of clothes are, you know, out of reach because of the pricing,” said Tracy Sellers.

Three years ago, Sellers started shopping at Klothes Kloset . United Methodist Open Door started the program to make sure people have something to wear.

Inside Klothes Kloset cost is not an issue.

“We give them away free,” said Jan Caster, Klothes Kloset Coordinator. “Anybody can shop here.”

People only need to show up with an ID to shop.

“We’ll give you a card. You can come once a month. One card per household. The most bags we give is four and they’re usually Walmart, Dillons, something like that but you can get a lot of stuff,” Caster said.

Donations from the community fill the stores racks.

The nonprofit has a specific demand for men’s clothing.

“There’s never enough men’s shoes, coats. Women get rid of their clothes, you know, men don’t. They hang on to them forever,” she explained.
