6 and 8-year-old Rockford siblings showcase immense golf talent

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Jaxon and Jayden Schroeder may be names to know in the future, and their talents come from right here in Rockford.

At just six years old, Jaxon has accomplished more than most athletes at his age or even older. He has won four Midwest Champion golf tournaments just this summer and came as the runner-up for another. He qualified and competed in the U.S. Kids World Championships in Pinehurst, North Carolina, and the Under Armor Junior Tour Nationals in Florida.

His mother, Jacqueline, said he has taken one or two lessons, but for the most part, has natural talent. She said he has already been getting noticed by high school coaches.

“It’s so cool because they’ll just be out here practicing, hitting balls or chipping in in the chipping area or putting on the putting green, and the coaches will be out there like, ‘how old are they? Where are they going to go to high school?’” Jacqueline said. “It’s just kind of cool that they’re already showing interest.”

Jacqueline said her late mother always wanted her [Jacqueline] to get into the game, but it didn’t take until Jacqueline had children for her to really get into it. Her oldest, Jayden (9), gravitated towards it right away and took off from there. She said her favorite part is all of the traveling she does for tournaments.
