Rockford Sikh Temple honors 9/11 victims

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford’s Nanaksar Sikh Temple commemorated the innocent people who lost their lives in the tragic September 11th attacks.

The temple held a candlelight vigil remembering the victims of those attacks. Prayers were held inside the temple along with a candlelight ceremony outside.

The leader of the temple said it is important to remember the attacks and honor the victims every year.

“The Sikh community condemn the terrorism the Sikh feel they believe in love, peace, harmony, and brotherhood,” said Nanaksar President Baba Ji. “The prophets of the religion, they never told us to fight in the name of faith. If someone does that, these are, it’s terrible, these are very wrong.”

The temple is located on 3rd Avenue and prides itself on serving all members of the community.
