Rebuild Upstate looking for more Anderson Co. volunteers

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – For 17 years, the “Rebuild Upstate” organization has helped thousands of low income neighbors in Greenville, Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties.

“Rebuild Upstate” is a nonprofit organization, tackling the affordable housing crisis by helping Upstate S.C. residents stay in the homes they currently own.

The organization is expanding volunteer opportunities to the Anderson community through an event called “Wake Up and Rebuild,” and urges wanted volunteers to be a part of their team.

“Rebuild Upstate does everything from roofs down to foundation repairs and everything in between,” said Dayle Stewart, Rebuild Upstate Assistant Director.

Calling on all who are willing to help, the group is looking for volunteers to build handicap ramps and renovate bathrooms.

“We repair plumbing situations, we do electrical situations, you name it. The work is done at some point or another by us,” said Stewart.

The group said repairs keep the momentum alive for building affordable housing solutions, accessibility improvements and safe conditions.
