Bond denied for Decatur woman charged with two murders, domestic violence

DECATUR, Ala. ( WHNT ) — A Morgan County Judge denied the Decatur woman charged with two murders and domestic violence bond Thursday.

Mary Hughes appeared in court for an Aniah’s Law hearing where she was denied bond.

One taken to hospital after shooting in Lacey’s Spring, investigation underway

Following three separate investigations, Hughes is charged with two counts of murder and domestic violence .

On Aug. 25, Decatur police officers responded to a stabbing call at a home on Ororke Lane. An adult man was found with multiple lacerations. At the time, the man was taken to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

Police say a woman, identified as Mary Hughes, was also at the home when they arrived. Following an investigation, Hughes was charged with domestic violence – assault and taken to the Morgan County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Hughes bonded out on Aug. 28.

Court documents show that the man, who Hughes was in a dating relationship with, was found with multiple stab wounds. He says he arrived at Hughes’s apartment, preparing to paint a room when she randomly stabbed him.
