Amarillo International Film Festival coming October 10-12

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — More than 70 entries were submitted and voted down to 36 films and shorts in a variety of genres for the upcoming Amarillo International Film Festival, and with projects like “Yellowstone” recently filming in the area, the local film industry is seeing a surge of interest in lights, camera, and action.

“My job is to try to sell Amarillo and the greater Amarillo area as a film destination,” said Sherman Bass, the Film Commissioner for Visit Amarillo and Administrator for the AIFF. “Whether it’s film, television, video games, any kind of digital or film work. We want to try to get more people employed in Amarillo. We want to get more visitors in Amarillo and spend the nights in hotels to make their projects.”

The upcoming Amarillo International Film Festival aims to do that with works from filmmakers from all over the United States and seven foreign countries, in a multitude of genres.

“We have comedy, we have documentaries, we have mockumentaries, we have horror, we have suspense, we have drama, we have a couple foreign language films that will be subtitled. It’s all over the board,” Bass said.
