Michigan Athletics News: 7 Distinguished Athletes Named to Michigan’s 2024 Hall of Honor

The University of Michigan recently announced its esteemed Hall of Honor class for 2024, celebrating seven distinguished former athletes from various sports. This year’s inductees represent six different teams and span over four decades, showcasing the university’s proud athletic heritage. The induction ceremony is set for November 3, 2024, during a Michigan football game against Oregon, where honorees will be recognized.

Among the notable inductees is Calvin O’Neal, a former football team captain who achieved All-American status and set a remarkable record with 24 tackles in a single game. Additionally, Knox Cameron, the only first-team All-American in Michigan men’s soccer history, will be honored for leading the team to the Elite Eight and for his impressive tally of 12 game-winning goals, placing him among the top in career points.

Amanda Chidester is another significant addition to the Hall of Honor, recognized for her accomplishments in softball, including two-time Big Ten Player of the Year and her contribution to the USA national team that won a silver medal in Olympic softball. Dan Goldberg, known for his tennis prowess, holds the record for the most singles wins in Michigan tennis history with 127 victories, leading the team to the 1988 Final Four.
