KALAMAZOO, MI — A business started by a 10-year-old in Kalamazoo earned a $25,000 grant from the state of Michigan. Layla Wallace based Layla’s Cool Pops business off of a fourth grade economics project in 2015. Now 19 years old, she is studying business at Western Michigan University, her motto — eliminating homelessness one sweet at a time — hasn’t changed.
