New horse farm offers high-end features in eastern Tallahassee

The Stables on Buck Lake is a new horse farm in eastern Tallahassee featuring on-site boarding, trails and riding lessons, including therapeutic riding for children and adults with disabilities.

Located on Buck Lake Road, the high-end equestrian facility is owned by Dylan Leoni and Spencer Brass, who said there was a need in Tallahassee for a “premier equestrian facility to bring people into the sport.”

“That’s what we built,” said Brass, a real estate investor who is now challenging Allison Tant for her Tallahassee-area seat in the Florida House of Representatives.

“We take beginners from 5 years old who want to learn how to ride, all the way up to 100 years old,” he added. “People can learn to ride there … We have people who do show circuits. The primary discipline is eventing ,” also known as three-day horse trials.

The Stables offers event space for corporate retreats and therapeutic riding lessons for children and adults living with mental and physical disabilities.

The adaptive therapy allows students to perform mounted and unmounted work on or around the horse, according the facility’s materials. Packages range from one lesson for $85 with a certified instructor to eight lessons for $600.
