Help is coming from RI’s construction workers

Good morning, I’m Will Richmond at The Providence Journal and this is the Daily Briefing.

When you think of opioid deaths, construction workers may not come to mind as those hit the hardest.

Unfortunately, from July 2016 to June 2018, men and women working in the fields of natural resources, construction, and maintenance jobs had the highest rate of opioid-involved fatal overdoses in Rhode Island compared to individuals in other occupation categories.

There is hope of reversing the trend.

The Journal’s Jack Perry reports on the aggressive campaign started by Providence-based nonprofit Building Futures aimed at saving lives.
