Woman charged after hot sauce poured in son’s mouth: Warrants

GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) — A Garner woman was arrested and charged with child abuse in connection to a July incident where her 5-year-old son had Texas Pete Hot Sauce poured in his mouth, according to arrest warrants.

Wake County arrest warrants said that on July 30, 28-year-old Meridith Stewart assaulted her son which resulted in serious injury causing dark bruising on the back of his legs, butt and lower back.

Documents also said that the boy also had hot sauce poured into his mouth.

Man sentenced for drugs, weapons, and throwing puppy out window

Stewart turned herself in to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, September 12. She is charged with:

  • Felony negligent child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury,
  • 4 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor,
  • and 4 counts of child abuse.

She received a $65,000 bond. According to court documents she has posted a bond and has since been released. Her first court appearance is Friday, September 13 at 1:30 p.m. at Wake District Court.
