Cape Coral motorcyclist, 19, arrested upon hospital release for fatal crash

Nearly three months after a motorcyclist died in a Fort Myers crash, authorities have arrested a second involved motorcyclist.

Alexander Isbel Cruz, 19, of Cape Coral faces vehicular homicide charges following the June 18 crash. He remained in custody Friday morning on $75,000 bond, jail records show, along with a mugshot of the accused teen wearing a neck brace.

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol said their exhaustive criminal investigation revealed Cruz’s motorcycle was traveling at high speed, between 96 to 106 mph,  Interstate 75,  south of mile marker 138, in Fort Myers.

Cruz’s motorcycle collided with a second motorcycle.  The other motorcyclist, a 21-year-old Cape Coral man, died on scene. The identity of the slain motorcyclist remained unreleased Friday morning.
