CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A former Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer took a plea this week in a case where he was accused of stealing $900 from a suspect .
Former CMPD Officer Henry Chapman was arrested following an investigation into stolen property. Chapman was accused of stealing from a man he arrested back in March.
Bodycam video of the incident was released back in June.

Chapman was charged with embezzlement and resigned the following day, CMPD said. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where the driver was accused of going 68 in a 45 MPH zone.
This week, Chapman took what’s called an ‘Alford plea.’ It means he gets to maintain his innocence while accepting the judge’s punishment in this case.
Chapman will now serve a maximum of two years probation and complete a CBI course, which is a cognitive behavioral intervention course designed to help prevent future criminal charges.
