TN Lawmakers Continue Fight Against Grocery Price Gouging

Sen. Oliver, Rep. Behn to host forum on corporate grocery price inflation

A pair of Nashville state legislators continue to attack the issue of price gouging at grocery stores, this time with a public forum featuring an Assistant Attorney General of the United States.

Sen. Charlane Oliver and Rep. Aftyn Behn will host a public discussion featuring Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Kanter, who works in the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division. The forum will focus attention on the influence of corporate grocery stores over price inflation.

The event will be held on Friday, September 20th from 11:30-1 PM at First Baptist Church, Capitol Hill.

In a statement released to the media, the two lawmakers said they will keep fighting for solutions to lower the cost of living for Tennessee families.

“This is about finding new, creative ways to cut costs for working families,” said Sen. Oliver. “Tennessee families are facing some of the highest inflation in the country. We can’t just stand by and let corporate greed drive up prices. We need action, and that means holding these businesses accountable when they engage in anti-competitive practices.”
