Grand Strand’s culinary scene to be highlighted on national stage

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Visit Myrtle Beach and three local chefs are traveling to the Big Apple to serve up the Grand Strand’s culinary scene on a national stage.

This is in collaboration with the prominent nationwide culinary organization, the James Beard Foundation.

The chefs are cooking up a special dinner series called “A Celebration of Carolina Coastal Cuisine,” and will include locally-sourced fresh seafood catches and farm-fresh vegetables.

The main events are happening on Sept. 16 and 17 with the National Press present.

One of the chefs, Heidi Vukov, who is the owner of Heidi’s Restaurant Group in Myrtle Beach, said the dishes will be seafood centric to highlight our coast.

“This gives us a great opportunity for exposure to the United States that ‘Hey, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina has some really good food to offer,’” she said. “We have more restaurants per capita than any other city in the United States.”

This will be the first time Visit Myrtle Beach and the James Beard Foundation have teamed up to showcase the Coastal Carolina flavors in New York City.
