Fentanyl, cocaine found in baby’s system after being hospitalized at Penn State Hershey; Parents charged

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A baby hospitalized at Penn State Hershey had cocaine and fentanyl in their system, and the parents are facing charges, police say.

According to the charges from Middlesex Township Police, the drugs got into the six-month-old’s system while in the care of Brandi Keifer, and David Foor, both 25 and both from Carlisle.

The final medical report from a doctor showed that the baby tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl, according to the charges. “Even small doses of fentanyl can be life-threatening to an infant or young child as it can cause respiratory depression,” the medical report states.

A Cumberland County Probation Officer contacted police on Aug. 2 about trying to find the baby who was believed to be in danger because of the parents, Keifer and Foor, being illegal drug users. Police said they went to a hotel, along Harrisburg Pike in Carlisle, where the parents were reportedly staying.
