This is a recipe I like to make several times a year, especially close to fall. This is a really simple recipe to make whether you use a smoker or the oven. You will need the following ingredients:
Recipe:
2 – 3 pound brisket
salt and pepper to taste
longhorn seasoning (recipe linked below)
two different types of bbq rub
1/2 cup of apple juice
Preheat the smoker or the oven to 275 degrees.
Trim the fat from the brsiket and season both sides with salt and pepper and then sprinkle the two different layers of bbq rub over both sides, making sure to coat the brisket very well. Tip: If the bbq rubs have added salt you may want to leave the salt out.
Place the brisket in the smoker or the oven and cook until the internal temperature is around 165 degrees. Should be around 4 hours or so.
Remove the brisket from the smoker or oven and pour the apple juice over it and then wrap it up tightly in aluminum foil.
Place the brisket back into the smoker or the oven and cook until the brisket is tender and the internal temperature is around 205 degrees or so. This should take about 5 more hours. Remove the brisket and let it rest for at least 30 minutes. Enjoy!
