(Editor’s note: This article is part of a new weekly series featuring Columbus Dispatch journalists and their work in our community.)
I’m Erin Glynn and I cover state government, specifically environmental issues, K-12 education and public health, for the USA TODAY Network Statehouse Bureau, including The Columbus Dispatch.
Before this, I was a Report for America corps member covering public accountability in three Southwest Ohio counties for the Cincinnati Enquirer.
I grew up in Northern Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati, and moved to Columbus in March.
Why I became a journalist
My parents met as young reporters at the Enquirer, so it’s the family business – though my parents may have preferred I find a job with more stability. But I couldn’t resist journalism. When I visited the Enquirer newsroom as a kid, I thought it was the coolest place to work. When I took my first journalism class (taught by Enquirer reporter Patricia Gallagher Newberry!), I was officially hooked.
