Police ask for public’s help to solve fatal shooting in central Phoenix in early September

Police requested the public’s assistance on Friday in solving the murder of 30-year-old Paul Carrillo, who was shot in early September in central Phoenix.

About 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 5, Phoenix police responded to reports of a shooting near 21st Avenue and Indian School Road. Upon arrival, officers found Carrillo with at least one gunshot wound, according to Sgt. Rob Scherer.

Carrillo was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Scherer.

Scherer said detectives were investigating the shooting and death of Carrillo as a homicide.

“Additional details related to this incident remain part of the ongoing investigation,” Scherer said.

Anyone with information about the shooter’s identity was encouraged to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers. Rewards were available for information that led to an arrest.
