No offseason is complete without the Oklahoma City Thunder giving back to their community. Throughout an eventful summer, the players have been acutely involved in various communities, from hosting basketball youth camps to attending local events.
Thunder Cares, the team-initiated community service program, has also been active this summer, and it recently held a food bank to serve thousands of children across over 400 schools.
Serving the community
With the 2024-25 NBA season on the cusp, Thunder stars Ousmane Dieng, Aaron Wiggins, and Jaylin Williams made a guest appearance at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, where they participated in the Backpack Program.
“Oklahoma City Thunder players were able to lend a helping hand during Hunger Action Month with a surprise visit to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma on Thursday. Aaron Wiggins, Jaylin Williams, and Ousmane Dieng surprised two volunteer groups, the Southern Nazarene University men’s baseball team and Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, to help package food sacks for the Regional Food Bank’s Backpack Program. Serving more than 20,000 students across 450 schools, the program provides kid-friendly snacks to elementary students experiencing food insecurity during the weekends,” the Thunder said in a statement.
