A bounteous Glass Harvest at TMA

The arts in Toledo are constantly growing and evolving.

In a city that’s abundant with local artists, galleries, and museums — there’s an everlasting flow of new art to look forward to.

Take the Toledo Museum of Art for example and its upcoming Glass Harvest. The event is set for Sept. 28 and 29 at the TMA’s Rita B. Kern Sensory Garden.

“This is our fourth annual Glass Harvest,” said Heather Blankenship, the retail operations manager at the TMA. “It’s a time that you can visit the Toledo Museum of Art to shop a really beautiful array of hand-blown glass pumpkins.”

The studio glass movement began in Toledo, she shared, adding that she hopes the event brings a sense of pride to Toledoans.

Patrons can view and purchase over 300 glass pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, Blankenship said, noting that they’re all handmade by a team of studio artists from the Glass Studio at the TMA.

“We’re trying to make this different and exciting and something that people want to come back to, which they have been,” she added. “These don’t look like every day pumpkins. It’s really interesting to see our garden actually look like a pumpkin patch, but it’s made of glass.”
