Like most mothers, Helena Tavares wants to do all she can to help her children face the challenges of life. On the surface, her 13-year old daughter Avery appears to be an exceptional teen. She is an “A” student at Atlantis Charter School in Fall River, and joins in after-school activities. She is quiet and well-behaved.
