Mild night with mostly clear skies; showers likely this week

Sunday evening looks great for those who saved evening plans for Sunday: temps dropping into the 60s before 9 PM under mostly clear skies. The wind will continue to be breezy, easterly winds gusting 20-30 mph during the overnight. But we should settle into a comfy night as overnight lows drop into the 50s.

Monday looks like it will start off on a great note: temps in the 50s/60s followed by plenty of sunshine through lunchtime. Into the afternoon, don’t be surprised to see clouds roll in, especially across the south and east, as temps reach the 70s.

As we watch a nearby low-pressure system off the east coast start to move inland, we could see some isolated showers move in during the evening hours, first starting off down to the south and east in portions of Virginia and along the eastern mountain counties. Rain showers do look to be more widespread as we get into Tuesday morning with temps dropping into near 60.

Tuesday, we continue to turn our attention to a low-pressure system that at this point will be moving inland. The timing of the low is still in play, but by Tuesday, scattered showers do look to be a good bet for many of us. Make sure you watch for ponding issues on the roads if you plan to travel outside as temps reach near 70.
