Padres complete sweep of Giants

The Padres completed a three-game sweep of the Giants with a 4-3 win in 10 innings on Sunday afternoon. Martin Perez was very effective in his first start since returning from the paternity list, allowing just one run in five innings. He only gave up two hits and one walk. The first run of the game came in the 6th inning on a sac-fly from Manny Machado. The Padres’ lead was short-lived, as Donovan Walton tied the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the 6th. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a pinch-hit solo homer in the 8th to put the Padres on top 2-1. Heliot Ramos tied the game in the bottom of the 9th with a home run into McCovey Cove off of closer Robert Suarez, sending the game into extra innings. David Peralta drove in Jake Cronenworth with an RBI-single in the top of the 10th, and Donovan Solano brought in Peralta from third after Luis Arraez ripped a double, to give the Padres a 4-2 lead. Adrian Morejon was summoned to close things out in the bottom of the 10th, and though the Giants would score a run on a sac-fly from Michael Conforto, Morejon was able to close things out to earn his second save of the season. The Padres return home on Monday for their final homestand of the season against the Astros and White Sox.
