The Albertsons store on South China Lake Boulevard was evacuated on Sunday afternoon after a fire in the store’s chicken fryer, according to scanner traffic. The fire was reported at 4:48 p.m. Smoke was released into the store, but employees and Kern County Fire Department firefighters were able to prevent damage to the rest of the store.
