COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) – The average gas price in Columbus continues to aggressively drop, this time by over 15 cents, to reach an average price of under $3 a gallon.
After significant price declines over the previous month , Columbus gas prices fell by 15.5 cents per gallon, reaching a five-week total drop of 56 cents per gallon. According to GasBuddy’s survey of 500 stations the average price for a gallon of gasoline in the Columbus area is $2.96
The current price is also 52 cents lower per gallon than last month and 68.2 cents per gallon than this time one year ago. In Ohio, the average price of gas also dropped sharply, from $3.05 per gallon to $2.90 per gallon. It became the 18 th state to reach an average price of under $3 per gallon.
The cheapest gas station in the Columbus area was priced at $2.57 a gallon, while the most expensive was $3.39, a difference of 82 cents per gallon.
Nationally, gas prices also experienced a drop of 6.9 cents per gallon to reach $3.15, while the price of diesel continues to hit new lows since January 2022, settling at $3.57 per gallon.
