The Minnesota Vikings started the season 2-0 for the first time since 2016 after a 23-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon. One of the main reasons was defensive coordinator Brian Flores’ unit. They were a menace all afternoon, forced two turnovers and got a goal line stand that turned into a 97-yard Justin Jefferson deep ball touchdown pass from Sam Darnold .
After that game is a time for both sides to congratulate each other and exchange pleasantries. It’s a normal practice that sees both sides saying nice things about the other.
On Sunday, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy talked to Flores after the game and had some very complimentary words for him.
Those words hold some weight from Purdy. He has played Flores twice in the last two seasons and had trouble in both games. Not just trouble, but Purdy is 0-2 against the Vikings. He is undefeated against the rest of the NFC.
Flores’ defense is excellent and attacks you in ways you don’t expect to happen. He sends confusing looks constantly and Purdy had troubles in both games.
