Minco Public Schools placed on lockdown after receiving threat

MINCO, Okla. ( KFOR ) – According to Minco Public Schools, the district has been placed on a soft lockdown after receiving a threat.

Officials say the district found the threat on an answering machine around 7:35 a.m. Monday morning. The call appears to be from out of the country, but the district will be taking precautions throughout the day.

“We have the situation under control. We will keep you updated throughout the day, and know that all are safe and secure!!” said Superintendent Kevin Sims.

The district says students will not be allowed to leave campus for lunch or go outside during recess. There will be athletics during last hour and there will be law enforcement present. Parents who do not was their child at practice today can call the school to have them excused.

The softball game scheduled for this evening is still on, but law enforcement will be there.
