Dirty Soda taking a swig at the Midwest

Hope you’re thirsty.

The dirty soda trend is coming to a street near you.

Shops selling customized sodas, flavored with syrups, creams and fruit purees — making for hundreds of combinations —  are popping up across Indiana.

One of the largest drive-through dirty soda chains plans to open dozens of shops in the Hoosier State.

Swig is opening three create-your-own soda stores in Indianapolis in the coming months.

The store at 5145 Noggle Way is opening Sept. 26. A second shop at 9510 N. Meridian St. will follow later this fall, while a third is planned for early 2025 at 10121 E. Washington.

Its signature Texas Tab is Dr Pepper with vanilla syrup and coconut cream.

“Once you’ve had that, it’s hard to go back to just a Dr Pepper,” said Gavin Rundell, part of the Swig franchisee Black Mountain Soda operating the Indiana stores.

The shops feature sodas, including Coke and Pepsi products, ready to be combined with syrups — from guava to sugar-free coconut — fruit purees, flavored popping boba pearls and flavored creams. Its Revivers, with an energy drink as a base, and Refreshers, with sparkling water as the base, are also big sellers.
