WPD investigating shooting near nightclub in south Wichita early Sunday

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Police are investigating a shooting that took place near a nightclub in south Wichita early Sunday morning.

According to the Wichita Police Department, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 200 block W. Harry St. at 3:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, they spoke to a person in the parking lot of a nearby nightclub who said that they heard several gunshots. Police searched the parking lot and found “7-9mm bullet casings on the northwest corner of the building.”

Officers also discovered bullet holes in the building, broken glass on the ground, and a trail of blood along the sidewalk.

While police were investigating the scene, officers were told that a person arrived at a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds believed to be connected to the shooting.
