Pinpoint Weather: Rain moves in Monday afternoon

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — Rain will spread in Southwest and Central Virginia Monday afternoon and evening as Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight moves onshore.

Overall, it will be a cloudy Monday with highs in the cooler-than-average upper 60s and lower 70s. Rain chances will increase during the afternoon and evening hours. Some rumbles of thunder are possible, but severe weather is not anticipated. Winds will pick up overnight.

The wet weather will continue into Tuesday. Highs will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s. While the rain will help drought conditions, repeated rounds of heavy rainfall could lead to flooding concerns. Wind gusts up to 30 mph are possible at higher elevations.
