AAA: Florida gas prices continue to fall as oil prices continue downward trend

Florida regular gasoline prices are continuing their downward slide in response to falling oil prices: The average reached $3.11 per gallon on Sunday.

According to the AAA-The Auto Club Group’s weekly briefing, that’s the lowest statewide average price since Jan. 23 of this year.

“It has been 237 days since Florida gas prices were below $3 a gallon – but that streak could come to an end soon,” said Mark Jenkins, group spokesperson.

“Oil prices suffered big losses in recent weeks, due to global economic concerns and the belief that global fuel supplies could begin to outpace demand,” Jenkins added. “This could enable the state average to fall below $3 a gallon before October.”

More than a quarter of Florida gas stations already have pump prices sitting below $3 a gallon.

Last week, the U.S. price of crude oil slipped to $65.75 per barrel, the lowest it’s been since December 2021. By Friday, prices rose up by $3 to $68.65 per barrel because of concerns about Hurricane Francine.
