Fayetteville State University announces record enrollment with more than 7,000 students

Fayetteville State University reached a new milestone with record-breaking enrollment rates for the third consecutive year, highlighting a 12% growth since 2018.

FSU enrolled 7,107 students for the fall 2024 semester, with nearly 800 first-time freshmen, and more than 1,000 transfer students, boosting FSU’s student body to its highest number yet, said Chancellor Darrell T. Allison. He said FSU’s steady climb in enrollments reflects its commitment to accessible, affordable education.

“More families are wrestling with the question in America. ‘Is higher education worth it today?'” Allison said Tuesday. “We have to really show that it is. That we still believe that a good education is not only good for that individual student, but it has real generational impact not only for that student, but for their family and their families to come.”

FSU ranked most affordable college in the country

The enrollment announcement follows FSU being ranked as the No. 1 most affordable for out-of-state tuition in the nation by The College Investor , a personal finance and investing website. Allison said he believes FSU’s achievements reflect the growing appeal of higher education, adding that the university also reported a retention rate of 75% for the second year in a row.
